Shak-T

About Me:
Shak-T is a versatile, creative, practical and solution-focused driven individual, who uses her intuition, humour and has a people-centric approach. From Medical Doctor to Complimentary Therapist, Dancer to Stage Manager. Sometimes DJ, former Sound System owner, Promoter and in-house Security at clubs in Brighton. She has worked in dance music export sales and label management, the film industry as a runner, sound assistant, production assistant and background artiste. Does occasional barista shifts.

Currently Shak-T is involved in ‘HeArt of Care’, a project for carers with Rosetta Life. She wrote poems and recorded speaking them; movement was filmed in a green screen studio. The edited piece is being projected onto public buildings in UK and Australia. If further Arts Council England funding is secured, this may develop into an immersive performance in VR.

Shak-T sings soprano in a community choir. When she hears a heavy bassline she feels compelled to dance. Favourite lockdown phone video moment was contributing to Dutty Moonshine Big Band’s fan video for International Women’s Day, a spoof on the original Fever video tipping a waste paper basket over her head as an impromptu confetti cannon!

Loves travel and spending time in nature, especially by the sea and in forests.

Passionate about wellbeing, sustainability and social justice.
