About Me:
I am a retired MFL Secondary school teacher, teaching French and Spanish (I am fluent in both languages). At the moment I am learning Italian and attend conversation groups in all three languages every week.
I was born in Tanzania and grew up in the three East African countries. My father was from Glasgow and my mother was from the Seychelles which is where ‘Home’ is. I was sent to boarding school from Uganda to Kenya when I was 6.5 years old and then Secondary school in St Andrews, Scotland. i attended Leeds University where I studied French and Spanish.
I have 3 grown up sons who are wonderful! Jamie, the eldest, is a Doctor of Marine Biology in Kiel, Germany and the other two, Sam and Olly both work in Marketing.
I have an elder brother in Edinburgh and a younger sister in Sydney
Baking is one of my favourite activities and i reached the final of the GBBO in 2019 and 2020. I now make cakes to order, mainly for weddings and important birthdays. I am also interested in antiques and in 1998 I appeared in the TV programme ‘The Great Antiques Hunt’, hosted by Gilly Goolden.
My ex-husband had a construction company and we renovated several properties together including a chalet near Morzine and a beach house on Anna Maria island, Florida. I learnt a lot and loved the buzz of turning something ugly into something beautiful. i also volunteer at a Brighton Theatre where I help paint stage sets.
I am at the end of a difficult divorce and now live in a timber framed beach house one road away from the beach in Shoreham-by-Sea. It is perfect for me and I am very happy here!
