Bilyana Petrova Simova

About Me:
Originally, I’m from Balchik, Bulgaria – a historic town and a port on the North coast of the Black Sea; a favoured film location too. For the first time, I was an extra in international film production when I was 9 years old. I hold a BA in FILM & and TV Directing from New Bulgarian University. Before moving to the UK in 2013, I was a freelance filmmaker. I have certain TV experience being part of the production team of a Martial Arts TV show. Last year I earned a BA (H) Degree in Photography at the University of Cumbria. I describe myself as an interdisciplinary artist. I am currently taking a break from my studies. Overall, I am quite committed to my goals. After moving to the UK. I worked also in hospitality, retail, and as an online ESL tutor. I can’t drive. I used to ride a bike on a regular basis when I lived in Osfia (the capital city of Bulgaria). Some of the other sports activities I’ve done are rock climbing high-mountain hiking and yoga. I’m also an excellent swimmer. I still have a deep connection to the sea. As a teenager, I was a bit of a rebel, I have indeed preserved some of my youthful spirit. In my every day, I prefer casual wear but always add a little extra to highlight my individuality. I speak Bulgarian, English, and some Russian; I have basic knowledge of French and Greek languages. I have a bit of Greek lineage on my mother’s side. I live alone though with my three-year-old cat Pearl. In the past, I was involved in a few significant animal rights campaigns.
