Character Description
Simon is emotionally exhausted, detached, and unable to connect with people outside of surface-level interactions. He treats conversations like transactions and photography like routine labour rather than human observation. His insomnia represents the gradual collapse of his emotional awareness, with disappearing faces serving as a visual metaphor for his inability to truly see people as human beings. Mary functions as both a real person and a psychological mirror, forcing Simon to confront his emotional emptiness.
