About Me:
I’m currently 58 and in a civil partnership. I was born in the capital city of Zagreb, Croatia. I came to the U.K. to learn English in order to become a chef on luxury cruise liners, but life led me in a different direction. Although I did not pursue a career as a chef on a cruise liner, I found my partner, and my English improved to a level close to that of a native speaker. I continued my education at a local college in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. I am now fluent in English, German, Croatian, and Serbian, with basic knowledge of Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, and Czech. I also worked as a freelance interpreter.
I spent time as an overseas missionary in the USA and Austria, where I improved my Austrian German. Later, I lived and studied theology and ministry at the University of Durham. I was employed by the Church of England, Diocese of Manchester, as a lay pastoral assistant in two different parishes.
In 2008, I became a naturalized British citizen at my local town hall. With a desire to help others, I enrolled at John Moores University in Liverpool to study nursing and earned a diploma in higher education. I worked as a registered general nurse and a theatre/recovery nurse in various hospitals across the UK.
After nearly 18 years in healthcare, I left nursing and returned to my previous job in the catering and hospitality industry as a chef and assistant chef, where I am today, creating various dishes. Additionally, I work part-time as a holistic therapist/masseur.
I enjoy travelling and have visited many overseas destinations on sea and river cruises, such as the Danube River and the magnificent Nile River in Egypt. My other interests include cooking, learning languages and cultures, watching films, and listening to music for relaxation.
