About Me:
Hi, I’m Sylvia, and I’ve just celebrated my 79th birthday. I’ve had a fun and active life, and I hope it continues for many more years. I still ski, network, travel, and occasionally go to the gym.
I worked in PR & Marketing for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) before I retired, but I have also held various roles in Business as a Company Secretary, in the NHS as a Nurse, as a Ski Instructor, and in the Justice Service as a Magistrate. Additionally, I served in the Territorial Army for many years and am a veteran of the two Gulf Wars. I can carry assignments through to completion, as evidenced by being awarded an MBE in the 2012 New Year Honours list for my services to the Armed Forces and the MoD.
I love adventures, meeting and interacting with people, and always giving my best. I enjoy working in dynamic situations, have the ability to collaborate effectively, respond well to direction, and possess strong listening and concentration skills.
This is a new career for me, and I’m really looking forward to it. I am confident in most situations and embrace challenges. I have experience in public speaking, and my voice carries well—though I have no formal training as an actor. As a child, I studied ballet for many years (and have recently returned to it) and was a child prodigy in a local operatic society.
These experiences gave me a solid foundation for physical skills like movement, coordination, and endurance, while also helping me remain calm in stressful situations.
Being mature brings a lifetime of experience across many aspects of life, and I hope these experiences will help me ‘go with the flow,’ work well with different kinds of people, and adapt easily to most situations.
