About Me:
When I was a young girl in the Philippines, I would walk around with a book balanced on my head, always posing in front of my father’s camera—he was a photographer. Back then, there were no mobile phones, so all pictures were taken by professional photographers. I also remember reenacting my favorite movie scenes. I got a taste of acting during high school and college, where we performed plays on stage. I always felt disappointed if I didn’t get the lead role. I was also a member of a dance troupe and choir, though all of this was in school. My favorite roles were always the dramatic scenes where I could deliver emotional lines—I can easily make myself shed tears.

When I came to England, I started watching all these comedy programs on television. My favorite characters were Manuel from Fawlty Towers and Alice from Vicar of Dibley. I think my accent would suit a comedy role perfectly. When this opportunity came to me, it felt like a gift handed to me. I had only filled out a small advertisement I saw on Facebook, and suddenly, it was as if a door opened for me. I received a phone call, and the rest is history. Everything happened so quickly. I was in awe—I couldn’t believe how fast things were unfolding. Was I ready for this? I think I was ready yesterday. I’m committing one hundred percent. The fact that this opportunity landed in my lap means I’m not going to let it slip through my fingers.

Is it too late to start this career at 61? For me, it’s the perfect time. I want to represent my age group and prove that not all models need to be young and skinny. We need to include everyone in our society—young, old, skinny, plus-size, Black, white. Even on the runway, there should be older models because older women are more confident—they have the means to indulge and pamper themselves. Age is just a number, and the higher the number, the better.
