Growing up as a brown girl in an asian household my first love has always been Bollywood and modelling. Standing in front of a mirror wearing my mum’s fancy dresses and coming up with poses would have been a start to my undying passion. As I grew older, I started to take serious action towards this passion by asking my parents if I could do practice shoots in an actual studio to see how I am in front of a camera. During my time in secondary school, I used to model for art and media projects which also made me realise how much I love doing this. Furthermore, I have also performed live in front of 300 people for a dance program. I’ve been dancing since I learnt how to walk. It’s always been one of my biggest hobbies. Currently, I have just finished year 12 and going into year 13 studying the subjects Philosophy, Religious Studies and English Literature & Language. I enjoy these subjects thoroughly and believe they will help me in university for studying law. Apart from acting and modelling, I have always loved to read books and take part in speech debate clubs; activism has always been a hobby of mine too. I love speaking to an audience, performing and being in front of a camera doing what I’m best at. Modelling and acting have helped me get out of my comfort zone and experience new things, whether it’s acting as jasmine from Aladdin for the annual drama performance at school or posing in front of the camera with spirit and confidence . I am not afraid of change or trying out new things. I rather find it exciting and see it as a life changing opportunity; like this one. One of the many reasons why I want to become a model is throughout the years I have had major insecurities about my body, my looks and still sometimes have these insecurities get the best of me. I want to be a model to show other girls and boys that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and they don’t have to look a certain way to be beautiful.
