ABOUT ME:
I’m Jake Baughan, I’m half Filipino, half British. Before moving to England I had previously lived in six other countries, going backwards to the Philippines – Biliran Island, Hong Kong, China – Shenzhen, Botswana, Cambodia – Phnom Penh, Thailand – Phuket. I was born in Bangkok.
I come from a creative background, my dad as a visual arts teacher that taught in several countries for many years which gave me exposure to artistic scenes. Having that environment I grew up developing a creative mindset, and during my whole life I’ve been trying to find ways to express my imagination, and Photography is where I ended up, more specifically creative portraiture.
I’ve been told by many to try modelling for a long time, whether it was from a friend, classmate, family friend, etc. Now that I do portraiture photography and am living in England has enabled me to have more opportunities, so trying out modelling didn’t seem so far-fetched anymore and I gave it a try. After my first photoshoot, I was told that the confidence and familiarity with this scene really helped and my comfort brought upon the photographer’s comfort as well. I hope to gain more experience on either side of the camera and keep an open mind to other fields of the profession, as I would definitely like to stay within this industry.
